About PUNBUS and Punjab Roadways

PUNBUS (Punjab State Bus Stand Management Company Ltd.) and Punjab Roadways together form Punjab’s official state-owned public bus network. Punjab Roadways was founded in 1948 with just 13 buses and grew to its peak strength of 2,407 buses by 1985. PUNBUS was incorporated in 1995 under the Companies Act to manage bus stands and later expanded into bus operations in 2006. Both agencies work as sister organisations under the Government of Punjab’s transport department.

Together, PUNBUS and Punjab Roadways operate a combined fleet of over 2,500 active buses across 1,800 plus joint routes. Every day, these buses cover more than 4 lakh kilometres, serving all 18 state depots from Chandigarh and Ludhiana to Amritsar, Pathankot, and Ferozepur. Services connect every part of Punjab and extend to Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, and other neighbouring states. With GPS tracking, electronic ticketing, and LED destination boards, PUNBUS continues to modernise public transport across the entire state.
